WHO I AM

I am a product design leader driven to create products that fulfill user and business objectives.

As a design leader, I create innovative teams that design impactful products. For this reason, I have dedicated much of my time and energy to developing a management style and approach to design to upskill my team and deliver quality products.

I have been fortunate enough to mentor several aspiring designers in my career. My mentorship has taken many forms, from personal one-on-one sessions to developing comprehensive programs that promote better design understanding and skill acquisition.

As a designer, I have always been passionate about creating with a people-first mindset. Who are we serving? What are their needs? What are their goals and objectives?  I aim to create products and experiences that meet user needs, exceed their expectations, and make their lives easier and more enjoyable.

WHAT I DO

Leadership
My design leadership is rooted in collaboration and communication. I foster an environment of open dialogue within my team and organization, encouraging the exchange of ideas quickly and regularly. I understand the importance of design in digital product design, from concept to product. My priority is to ensure design remains a priority throughout the process.
Design Process
My design process is based on the principles of human-centered design. This approach focuses on meeting the end user's needs through research, collaboration, and iteration. I also consider the design's impact on the business through potential revenue, cost savings, and other key objectives. This enables me to create products that are beneficial to both users and the business.

Speaking and Writing
I’ve been fortunate to be asked to offer my insights on various topics in design. I’ve been interviewed, created keynotes, and held webinars to share what I’ve learned during my career. I also like to host or facilitate events on topics I think are important in design today.

About Me:

📷  @clipkin

I have been designing something one way or another for as long as I can remember. I started off drawing comic book characters and The Simpsons, then graduated to drawing portraits of my favorite athletes and musicians. I used to make my own Halloween costumes, then horror movies with my friends. I’ve made documentaries, written screenplays. I have built some of furniture I use in my house. I love the process of starting from an idea and making it into something tangible.

I have been fortunate in my career to work on countless projects that run the spectrum of design, but more fortunate to meet amazing and talented people along the way. Some of them are now lifelong friends.

I enjoy meeting and learning about other people. Truly. I could listen to you tell me your life story and be totally fascinated. I love reading non-fiction and biographies for this reason. People and their experiences simply fascinate me.

I work hard. My parents work hard. Same with my siblings. We were raised that way.

I like taking the lead. There is nothing worse than indecision. Pick a path and follow it. If you fuck up, take responsibility, no excuses, and move on.

I love collaborating. I am at my happiest when I am working with someone or a group, making something together. Brainstorming, concepting, trying out ideas, failing and succeeding. Life, to me, is not about what you have, its about your experiences. Creating, making, and building things makes me happy.

I’m comfortable with myself. I don’t care about what other people do, I have always stayed true to myself and what I believe. The environment I grew up in supported that. My best friends and I had different tastes in literally every possibly way, but we had one strong common trait, we all loved to laugh and make each other laugh. Humor unites.

I love being a husband and a father. My family is literally everything to me. Seriously, ask me about my family and i’ll talk for days. Bring it.
